ANM Vs GNM Vs BSc Nursing: Which is the Best Course for You?

ANM and GNM are diploma degrees in the field of Nursing, whereas BSc Nursing is an undergraduate degree course. All three courses cater to the field of nursing and healthcare. ANM GNM full form is Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery and General Nursing Midwifery. To shed some light on the differences between ANM, GNM, and BSc Nursing courses, the ANM course typically emphasizes training students about basic healthcare, nursing facilities, etc. Whereas the GNM course is skill-based and trains students to assist doctors and surgeons in post-surgical patient healthcare and cater to related requirements. As for the BSc Nursing course, students are offered an in-depth knowledge of various aspects of Nursing, along with extensive knowledge about patient care and community medicine.

The basic difference between ANM and GNM is the course duration and the structure. The ANM Nursing course lasts for 2 years and focuses on theoretical knowledge, whereas the GNM Nursing course duration lasts 3.5 years and equips students with the skills required to tend to post-surgical patients, thus emphasizing practical knowledge. In terms of career prospects, GNM graduates have a higher chance of securing high-end nursing jobs at established hospitals when compared to ANM course graduates. However, if we compare GNM vs BSc Nursing, then BSc Nursing graduates are given preference over the former. BSc Nursing students can even opt to go for higher studies, or they can choose to work as Nursing supervisors. Dear Student,

If you have completed +2 with 62%, you have a high chance of getting BSc admission in government colleges. Although, the government colleges for BSc Nursing admission accept an entrance exam score. The exams accepted are NEET UG, JENPAS UG, RUHS CUET, MH CET Nursing etc.

Please specify the exam or college so that we can guide you accordingly.

Dear Student,

Yes, NIOS students can apply for the JENPAS UG 2025 Exam, if they are meeting all the standard eligibility requirements as stated by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board. The allowance of the NIOS candidates in the JENPAS UG exam has increased the fairness of the exam. Students have the provision to appear for the entrance test as many times as they want. The JENPAS UG 2025 Eligibility Criteria are listed below.

  • Only Indian citizens can apply for JEPAS UG 2025

  • Students have to pass higher secondary from any recognized board/institution

  • The minimum aggregate marks required at the 10+2 level is 45%

  • Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English must be the core subjects at 10+2

  • The minimum age of the applicant should be 17 years as of 31st December of the applying year

  • Students appearing for their 12th final examination can also apply for JENPAS UG 2025

All of the above eligibility criteria are applicable to NIOS candidates as well. They have to make sure that during the time of registration and counselling, all the official documents like school authentication, NIOS certification, etc. are present with them for verification purposes.

Thank You

Dear Student,

According to the eligibility criteria specified by the exam conducting body, West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB), to be deemed eligible for appearing in the JENPAS 2025 Entrance Exam it is mandatory for all students to secure a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in their 10+2, in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English combined. While a 62% score in the 10+2 or its equivalent is an excellent score to be able to appear for the upcoming JENPAS UG 2025 Entrance Exam, you are also required to pass the above-mentioned core subjects individually with the required passing marks to be deemed eligible for the same. On the other hand, admission to Medical Laboratory Technology after successfully qualifying the JENPAS 2025 Entrance Exam is possible only for those students who meet the list of eligibility criteria for the admission procedure. Therefore, if a student fails to appear for the JENPAS 2025 Entrance Exam, they will not be deemed eligible for registration into Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) Course admissions. Thus, to answer your query, if you've failed in Physics in your 10+2 but have successfully secured a 62% in overall, you still may not be eligible for appearing in the JENPAS 2025 Entrance Exam for MLT course admission. However, you may still participate in the application process of JENPAS 2025 to try your luck, and give it a shot.

Thank you.

Dear Student,

The JENPAS UG 2024 Counselling is ongoing. The Mop-Up Round of JENPAS UG 2024 Counselling began on September 27, 2024, and is being conducted till October 4, 2024. According to the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB), the JENPAS UG Choice-Filling process which is conducted separately in each round of counselling, allows participating candidates to enter their choices of medical institutions and lock them on time.

Candidates are eligible to fill in multiple choices during this period based on the seat matrix of the participating colleges. After the choices are filled by the candidates, they are required to participate in the Choice-Locking process to confirm their preferences. In the Choice-Locking process, candidates may either edit their choices or change their order of preference, and submit the same to confirm their candidature for admission into the selected list of colleges. However, if any candidate fails to confirm their choices during the Choice-Locking process within the specified time frame, the details entered by them during the Choice-Filling process will be automatically locked and confirmed by the counselling authority. Therefore, to answer your query, yes, there is a provision of automatic Choice-Locking in case a candidate does not submit their choices from their end.

Thank you

Dear Student,

With a rank of 1865 in JENPAS (GMR) and 346 in OBC candidate category, you are eligible to apply for admission into other government colleges as well, apart from the WBUHS Kalyani. To be eligible for seat allocation at a different government Nursing college, candidates are required to apply in the 2nd round of the JENPAS counselling and participate in the Choice-Filling process. During the Choice-Filling process, depending on the seat availability of the participating colleges, candidates are required to enter their choice of colleges in order of preference. Once the Choice-Filling process concludes, the seat allotment results will be published based on the Choice-Filling process. Some of the top colleges offering admission to candidates with a 1865 rank in JENPAS exam are Peerless Institute of Nursing, West Bengal Government College of Nursing, Bengal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Belur Sramajibi Swashtya Prakalpa Samiti, B.P. Poddar and Parvati Devi Academy of Nursing, Apollo Gleneagles Nursing College, Anandalok Institute of Nursing Education, and many others.
