Ashoka University and India Meteorological Department Sign MoU to Advance Climate Science and Weather Research - Ashoka University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to enhance collaborative research and data sharing in meteorology, climate science, and environmental studies. This partnership was formalized during the 2nd Annual Workshop on AI/ML Methods in Weather and Climate Modelling, hosted by Ashoka University’s Safexpress Centre for Data, Learning and Decision Sciences (SCDLDS). The MoU aims to facilitate joint research initiatives, promote interdisciplinary studies, and improve weather forecasting capabilities, particularly in predicting extreme weather events. Both institutions will collaborate on coursework and provide internships for students and researchers at IMD, enhancing hands-on experience in weather monitoring and forecasting. The partnership is expected to leverage IMD’s operational expertise and data resources alongside Ashoka’s analytical strengths to develop better forecasting tools and models.
