In Punjab, schools have been ordered to remain closed till August 30, due to heavy rainfall in the region, the Punjab CM announced on social media. Local authorities in these regions have announced the closure of educational institutions for the safety of students and staff.

Himachal Pradesh School Holiday 28 August 2025
- IMD has issued red alert for various districts such as Una, Hamirpur, Mandi, Shimla, and Sirmaur.
- Heavy rainfall, along with thunderstorms, is expected in many districts of Himachal Pradesh.
- The district administrations of Mandi, Kangra, Chamba, Una, Bilaspur and Kullu are likely to announce a school holiday on August 28.
Maharashtra School Holiday 28 August 2025
- Orange alert has been issued for Satara district by the IMD along with the yellow alert for coastal districts of Maharashtra, including Thane, Mumbai, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri.
- While some districts have recently seen reduced rainfall, many areas are still under heavy rain warnings.
- District-specific announcements for school closures are expected.
Kerala School Holiday 28 August 2025
- In Kerala, schools are observing Onam vacations from August 28 to September 8, 2025. All State-run schools will remain closed during this period.
- Coastal districts like Kannur and Kasaragod, under a yellow alert, may see additional closures due to heavy rainfall and expected flooding.
Karnataka School Holiday 28 August 2025
- Heavy rains have affected Bengaluru, Udupi, and coastal districts, leading to severe traffic disruptions.
