Yes, MBBS can be done without NEET. But the way of doing it is different, especially when it comes to studying in India and abroad. In India, NEET is the only gateway to pursue MBBS. This national-level exam is conducted by NTA and mandated by NMC. In abroad, multiple colleges offer MBBS without the NEET exam to Indian students. However, if you want to start practising medicine in India after the completion of the MBBS degree, you need to qualify FMGE and the NEET Exam . In this article, you can explore both national and international gateways to complete the MBBS degree, all kinds of regulatory considerations, and other relevant information.
Can I Get MBBS Admission Without NEET in India
NEET UG exam was first introduced in 2013 by the government board. This exam is now the only gateway for MBBS course aspirants to take admission to Indian colleges for medical science. Previously, state-wise medical entrance exams were also conducted. After the commencement of NEET, this exam replaced all other MBBS entrance exams. The complete exam was standardised across all medical colleges, including private, government, central, deemed, etc. All of these institutions and the entrance procedure is authorised by NMC.
Though in 2013, the exam faced several legal hurdles, the honourable Supreme Court upheld its implementation. By 2016, NEET became the only mandatory path nationwide for medical science admission. The Supreme Court reinforced the exam as the exclusive route for both Indian students of domestic colleges and Indian students of foreign colleges. With the NMC Act 2019, this rule was fixed that students who hold foreign degrees and intend to practice in India after completion of their degree must qualify for the exam. As a result, every candidate has to pursue MBBS or BDS in India or abroad with Indian recognition, with a valid NEET score and certificate. This overall process standardised entry into the medical profession.
Can I Study MBBS Abroad Without NEET?
